Growing up, I never wanted anything more than to take my
education to the next step. But, being of the less dominant sex and coming from
a family where education was never a priority, college was never spoken
of. I would get a job after high school,
and that would be the end of it. As the times change, it is necessary to go to
college, and I know now there has never been a better time for me to work
towards my bachelor’s degree. The reasons I want a college degree are for
myself, my family, and for financial stability.
For myself - Neither my mother nor father graduated high
school. So, when I did, I thought that was it.
I was the first one from our family to get a high school diploma. I want to prove to myself that I can do this.
For my Family – I love them with my whole soul, and I want
to be a good role model. I want to show my children that college is important
no matter what age and to never to give up on their dreams. All of us can do anything we put our minds
to.
For financial stability - I know getting my degree will
guarantee my success. I am in a good
place and know that I can move up. I may
live paycheck to paycheck, but my new life starts now. I am smart and ready to start this new
chapter in my life. I will be more
successful. College is necessary to better my family’s future.
